VIDEO: Paris Mayor Swims in the Seine Ahead of Olympic Games
Paris Mayor Anne Hidalgo has publicly swum in the Seine River to demonstrate that the water is clean ahead of the Olympic Games, according to RIA Novosti.
Earlier, France's Sports Minister Amélie Oudéa-Castéra did the same to show that holding competitions in the river is safe.
In France, there are concerns regarding the safety of swimming in the river due to the sewage discharges.
It is worth noting that French President Emmanuel Macron has also promised to swim in the Seine.
