Suspicious Bag Discovered Containing One of the World's Most Powerful Weapons
In recent years, various units of the Police of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Armenia, including regional departments, territorial divisions, and the Patrol Service of the Police of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, have uncovered so much illegal weaponry and ammunition that it could arm several battalions. Under the directives of Minister of Internal Affairs Vahe Ghazaryan and Police Chief, Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs, Major General Aram Hovhannisyan, efforts to detect illegal weapons and ammunition continue across the Republic.
According to shamshyan.com, operational information was received at the Erebuni Police Department and the Nubarashen Police Office that a resident of the Erebuni administrative district, who participated in the 44-day war in Artsakh, had brought weapons and ammunition from there. Police officers from Erebuni and Nubarashen, along with veterans from the Armenian Police's Erebuni area, conducted explanatory work with that citizen, who shortly thereafter informed the police that he had left the stated weapons and ammunition in a ravine on one of the streets of the Nubarashen administrative district, near a grove of poplar trees.
At the indicated location, the police discovered a suspicious bag. Upon opening the bag at the scene, law enforcement officers and investigators found a Kalashnikov-type handheld machine gun, “PIK-74MC,” designed to fire 7.62x39mm caliber cartridges, a folding stock, manufactured in 2017, factory number, and loaded with its magazine containing 40 rounds of 7.62x39mm caliber ammunition, along with two hand grenades of the F1 and RGD-5 types, and one detonator.
A criminal case has been initiated in the investigative departments of Erebuni and Nubarashen administrative districts regarding the incident. According to news sources, the discovered Kalashnikov machine gun is considered one of the most powerful weapons in the world, and not every citizen has the opportunity to possess such a firearm.
