Stepanakert Mayor Released from Custody, Lawyer Confirms
Stepanakert Mayor Davit Sargsyan is now at liberty. This was reported by lawyer Roman Yeritsyan.
“The Armenian Court of Appeals accepted our appeal against the decision to place the Stepanakert mayor under house arrest, overturning the unlawful court ruling by J. Massis Melkonyan and rejecting the investigator's request. I would like to remind that, in another decision, the court also deemed the twenty-day detention of the mayor to be unlawful,” Yeritsyan stated.
It is worth noting that Davit Sargsyan has been charged under the third part of Article 255 and the second part of Article 457 of the RA Criminal Code, for allegedly committing large-scale theft through fraud and for falsifying documents.
