Yerevan American University Cancels Meeting with Kevin Spacey Under NGO Pressure, Says Golden Apricot Artistic Director

The press office of the Golden Apricot International Film Festival announced on June 25 that actor Kevin Spacey would be a guest at the festival.

Today, Karen Avetisyan, the artistic director of the Golden Apricot International Film Festival, wrote on his Facebook page that the meeting with Spacey scheduled to take place at American University has been canceled.

“We are having a meeting at the same time, 15:00, at the Cinema House, while the cancellation of the meeting with Spacey by the American University of Armenia under pressure from various NGOs reminds me of the recent 6-minute standing ovations after Timon of Athens’s Shakespearean monologue, note that at Oxford University,” Avetisyan wrote.
