The US Will Be Involved in the Peace Treaty Process, Senator Cardin
The United States has all the tools necessary to promote the signing of a peace treaty between Armenia and Azerbaijan. This was stated today during a press conference at the Armenian National Assembly by Senator Ben Cardin, Chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee.
"The United States has a significant diplomatic toolkit. I don’t want to specify how we might leverage that array of tools in this case, but I can say that the United States is interested and wants to promote the peace process between Armenia and Azerbaijan," he stated.
The senator added that the US will be involved in this process and will continue to work with the executive and legislative branches of both countries.
Armenian National Assembly President Alen Simonian, commenting on the peace treaty signing process, stated that the ball is currently in Azerbaijan's court. "There is no delay from the Armenian side regarding the signing of the peace treaty; we are ready to sign it. The process is ongoing, and we are fully confident it will succeed," he said.
