Aliyev Dissolves Parliament: Early Elections to be Held in Azerbaijan
Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev has signed a decree to dissolve the parliament, the Milli Majlis, and to schedule early parliamentary elections for September 1st. Under the law, parliamentary elections were originally supposed to take place in November of this year.
It is noteworthy that during a meeting of the ruling Yeni Azerbaijan party's board on June 20, party members unanimously decided to appeal to the President of Azerbaijan to dissolve the Milli Majlis.
