State of Emergency Declared in Kenya Amid Protests
A state of emergency has been declared in Kenya against the backdrop of anti-government protests, according to the decree by Chief Secretary of Defense Aden Bare Duale.
“On June 25, 2024, the Kenya Defense Forces were deployed to support police personnel in response to the extraordinary security situation resulting from the ongoing brutal protests in Kenya,” TASS reports.
Earlier, it was revealed that law enforcement used rubber bullets against protesters expressing their dissent over tax increases.
