«We Sanctified Our Army and What Did We Achieve?»: Nikol Pashinyan
Armenians have a tendency to sanctify everything. Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan made this statement during a meeting with participants of the 'iGorts' program.
“We sanctify the state as well, and it seems like what’s wrong with that, what are you against? The problem is that when we sanctify and idolize, we deprive ourselves of the opportunity to make it better, we deprive ourselves of the possibility that the state is merely a tool for improving people’s lives,” Pashinyan stated during the meeting.
He emphasized that, “we sanctified our army, and what did we achieve?”
“We keep talking about defeat, war, but we haven’t done the most crucial thing—recognizing what we saw in 2020 and thereafter, which is the reason for the sanctification and idolization of our army. Don’t say anything bad, the army is a different organism, it cannot be spoken of negatively! And we have fallen into that trap—‘Oh, it’s sacred, don’t touch that sanctity!’” Pashinyan said.
