Police Acted Proportionately and Was Obligated to Use Physical Force, Says Ministry of Internal Affairs Secretary
It was evident that an attack was being prepared against the country's legislative authority. This was clear from the actions of the participants in the gathering and previous statements made.
Armenian Ministry of Internal Affairs Secretary Ara Fidanyan stated this during an interview with Public Radio, discussing the special measures applied to the citizens of the Movement. He emphasized, “It is a superficial understanding that the use of any physical force by the police is violence. In certain cases, the police are obliged to use that force,” indicating that the police acted proportionately.
