Israel Responds to Events in Iran

The Israeli government has not issued any official response regarding the death of Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi. However, Avigdor Lieberman, the leader of the opposition party Yisrael Beiteinu, stated that Israel holds no expectations that Raisi's death will bring any changes to Iran's political landscape in the region. This was reported by The Times of Israel.

“It doesn’t matter to us; it will not affect Israel's stance towards Iran. Iran's policy is dictated by Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei,” he said to Ynet news site. “However, there is no doubt that the president was a brutal man. We will not shed even a single tear for him,” he added.

MK Avi Maoz, from the far-right coalition and deputy minister in Israeli Prime Minister's office, noted, “Just a month ago, he threatened that if Israel attacked, nothing would remain of us, and now he is just a speck of dust in history.”

It is worth mentioning that the Iranian presidential helicopter made a hard landing yesterday, May 19, in Iran’s East Azerbaijan province, resulting in the death of the helicopter crew and all passengers, including President Ebrahim Raisi and Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian.
