Video: Protesters Celebrate Orthodox Easter in the Center of Tbilisi
Thousands of protesters, who have participated in demonstrations against the foreign agents law over the past month, gathered last night in Rustaveli Avenue, Tbilisi, to celebrate Easter together.
Despite the rain that fell the day before the holiday, participants came to the Kashveti Church to welcome the holiday together. According to local media, the avenue was closed.
A festive liturgy was held in the courtyard of the Kashveti Cathedral, located in front of Parliament. The courtyard was filled with people holding flags of Georgia and the European Union, as well as candles.
Protesters had specially prepared for the event, baking Easter bread, dyeing eggs, and buying candles, which they later distributed to those gathered on Rustaveli.
