VIDEO: How the Host Continues Broadcasting During a Powerful Earthquake in Taiwan

During a powerful 7.5 magnitude earthquake in Taiwan, television broadcasts have continued without interruption. The death toll has reached at least 9, with over 800 injured. Dozens of individuals are still trapped under the rubble, reports The New York Times.

The mountainous Hualien area, located on the island's eastern coast, has been the hardest hit by the tremors. Taiwan's fire department has reported that at least 26 buildings have collapsed, with more than half of them located in the eastern Hualien region, where the earthquake's epicenter was found. More than 50 people have been injured, and around 20 individuals remain trapped under the debris. Rescue operations are ongoing.

This is the strongest earthquake to hit the island in the last 25 years. The last similar magnitude quake occurred in 1999, registering 7.6, resulting in approximately 2,400 fatalities and damaging or demolishing 50,000 buildings.
