Kanvas Will Become a Music Academy, the Only One of Its Kind in the Country: Avinyan
The Mayor of Yerevan, Tigran Avinyan, announced on Facebook that an international music academy will be established in the capital of Armenia, which will be the first and only one of its kind in the country.
“Dear Yerevan residents,
I am pleased to announce that the 'Yerevan' International Music Academy will be established in Yerevan, which will be the first and only one of its kind in Armenia. The academy will operate in the former 'Kanvas' cultural house building. Equipped with the latest technical resources and infrastructure, this modern educational-cultural institution will undoubtedly play an active role in the cultural education and aesthetic upbringing of our community and our youth,” Avinyan stated.
It should be recalled that back in 2020, actor Hrant Tokhatyan announced plans to create a new theater that would differ in its cast and stage. It was to be located in the building of the 'Kanvas' cultural center. Construction work had begun in October 2019, and a total investment of $3.5 million was planned. By that time, $60,000 had already been spent within five months. Following that, renovation works were carried out, but they remained unfinished.
On March 4, Mayor Tigran Avinyan announced that the 'Kanvas' cultural center had been returned to Yerevan. The building will now be renovated as part of a community program.
