Attempt to Import 40 Mobile Phones into Armenia Without Declaration
In a recent incident at the Electronic Commerce and Air Transport Department of the Armenian State Revenue Committee (SRC), a new case of customs regulation violation has been uncovered. A citizen arriving in Armenia on a flight from Abu Dhabi crossed the 'Green' lane, which signifies a declaration of the absence of goods subject to customs clearance.
Having reasonable suspicions regarding the transportation of goods that require customs declaration, customs officers from the Electronic Commerce and Air Transport Department, along with officers from the SRC’s Internal Security and Anti-Smuggling Department, escorted the individual to the 'Red' customs control zone after crossing the 'Green' lane.
The citizen was then subjected to customs control, which resulted in the discovery of 40 Apple model mobile phones in their luggage. A customs inspection report and a record of the violation of customs regulations were compiled by the customs officers from the Electronic Commerce and Air Transport Department and the Anti-Smuggling Department's 'Zvartnots' division, in accordance with Article 316 of the Law on Customs Regulation of Armenia.
To ensure the further proceeding of the administrative case, the materials have been forwarded to the SRC’s Legal Department.
