Two Rescued After Baltimore Bridge Collapse; Search Continues for Others
After the collapse of a bridge in Baltimore, Maryland, rescuers have pulled two injured individuals from the water, one of whom is in critical condition. This information comes from CNN, citing local fire chief James Wallace.
"Two people have been rescued from the water, one sustained injuries, the other has been hospitalized and is in serious condition," Wallace's statement was quoted by the broadcaster.
As Wallace noted, rescuers continue searching for at least seven people, although the exact number remains unclear due to the "highly extensive nature of the incident." The Francis Scott Key Bridge, stretching 2.57 kilometers, collapsed during the night.
Earlier reports indicated that the bridge collapsed in Baltimore after a vessel collided with it. Local media outlets have confirmed this event. Traffic in both directions has been closed, and footage captured shows the moment the vessel collided with the bridge, leading to its collapse.
