Ministry of Health Discusses Death of 9-Year-Old Child
The reason for the death of a 9-year-old child from the Ararat region will be clarified after a forensic examination, according to the Ministry of Health.
The child had a rash associated with chickenpox and other symptoms since March 7. On March 10, complaints of abdominal pains led the family to seek care at the ‘Ararat’ Medical Center, where an initial diagnosis of infectious toxic shock and ‘suspected’ chickenpox was made. A few hours later, due to a sharp decline in the child’s general condition, a decision was made to transfer the child to one of the medical centers in Yerevan for further examination and treatment.
During the transport, the child's condition deteriorated rapidly, leading to cardiac arrest. The child was taken to the nearest medical institution, the ‘Holy Mother of God’ Medical Center, at 11:30 PM. Despite extensive resuscitation efforts lasting 50 minutes, there was no success in restoring heart rhythm. Biological death was recorded at 00:20.
In response to media inquiries, the Ministry stated that the final cause of the child's death can only be determined after the forensic examination.
