Body of Woman Found on Mattress with Head Injuries; Son Arrested
The Investigative Committee of the Republic of Armenia is investigating the circumstances surrounding the apparent murder of a 73-year-old woman, which took place on February 29, 2024, in the Shengavit administrative district.
On that day at 4 PM, a report was received indicating that an ambulance was dispatched to a house on 24th street in Nor Kharberd, where the owner of the house had allegedly died in the presence of relatives.
During the examination of the crime scene within the framework of the initiated criminal proceedings, the woman's body was found on the mattress with head injuries, including a laceration on the forehead and signs of blood.
Multiple individuals have been interrogated, and medical examinations of the body and other necessary investigations have been ordered.
As a result of the conducted investigative actions, it has been established that between 2 PM and 3 PM on February 29, a 57-year-old man had an argument with his mother regarding household issues during which he pushed her. The mother fell, hit her head on the table, and lost consciousness.
Based on the collected evidence, the prosecuting body submitted a motion to the supervising prosecutor to initiate public criminal prosecution against the deceased woman's son under the 2nd part of Article 155 of the RA Criminal Code, which was approved.
Considering the necessity to present the accused to the court, a decision was made to arrest the individual, and on March 1, he was presented to the investigator by police officers and charged.
A motion has been submitted to the court for the application of detention as a preventive measure, which was granted. The investigation is ongoing, with procedural and evidentiary actions aimed at fully clarifying the circumstances of the case continuing.
