Protest Held Outside London Court in Support of Julian Assange
A protest supporting WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange is taking place for the second consecutive day outside the High Court in London. The High Court began a two-day hearing yesterday to determine whether the journalist will be able to continue contesting the British court's decision to extradite him to the United States.
Activists hold signs saying "Free Assange - journalism is not a crime," "Release Assange, no extradition," and "Do not extradite Assange." A rally in support of Assange's release also took place yesterday in Paris, attended by several hundred people.
Assange faces 18 criminal charges, which could result in a total of up to 175 years in prison in the U.S. for revealing one of the largest caches of classified information in the nation's history.
