Mayor on the Tense Situation in Vardenis
Residents of Vardenis, who had been protesting and blocking the road since morning, have halted their demonstration. This was stated to Aysor.am by Vardenis Mayor Aharon Khachatryan.
“The people had blocked the road, but now they have opened it. We are waiting for our regional governor to arrive so we can discuss all matters and hear the responses. Our people are modest and precise; they will present their questions, and the governor will respond, and we will conclude this,” said Khachatryan.
He assured that there are currently no blocked roads in Vardenis.
It should be noted that the passport services in the Vardenis and Chambarak communities of Gegharkunik Province are set to be closed, which is why the residents of Vardenis took to the streets in protest. It is planned to merge all passport services in Gegharkunik Province with the passport service of the Martuni community. As a result of these changes, the service will be renamed the Martuni Division of Migration and Civil Services.
The Migration and Citizenship Service clarified that deep reforms have been initiated in the migration sector. Earlier, we reported that there was a tense situation in Vardenis as residents had blocked a road.
