Severe Cold Recorded in Some Areas, Forecast for Upcoming Days
Due to the active cyclone penetrating from the southwest, heavy snowfall has been observed last night, particularly in the Vayots Dzor and Syunik regions. This information is provided by the Hydro-Meteorological and Monitoring Center. The maximum snow depth in Jermuk reached 90 cm, in the Hrazdan-Fantan area it measured 35-40 cm, while in Goris, Kapan, and Sisian it was between 20-25 cm, and 15 cm in Meghri. In the Ararat Plain, there is no snow cover.
With the penetration of arctic cold air currents, the air temperature dropped by 6-10 degrees last night. The minimum temperature was recorded in the Ashotsk and Tsakhkadzor areas at -17 to -18 degrees. This evening, precipitation will cease throughout the republic, and for the next three days, all regions are expected to have dry weather.
From the afternoon of January 15 until the 17th, tropical warm air currents will penetrate the country from the southwest, resulting in an increase in air temperature by 12-16 degrees in Lori, Tavush, and Syunik, and by 6-10 degrees in other regions, including Yerevan.
