Ukraine Receives Final Tranche of 2023 Aid from the European Union, Says Ursula von der Leyen
The European Union has transferred a tranche of financial aid to Ukraine amounting to 1.5 billion euros in December. This was announced by Ursula von der Leyen, the President of the European Commission, on her page on the X social network.
“Today we transferred the final part of our 18 billion euro aid package for Ukraine for 2023, amounting to 1.5 billion euros,” she wrote.
Earlier, Charles Michel, President of the European Council, expressed hope that EU leaders could unanimously approve a project to support Ukraine at the beginning of 2024. However, on December 15, Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán announced the blocking of 50 billion euros in aid to Kyiv. Previously, Budapest had opposed a 20 billion euro military support package.
