Closure Will Be Lifted: Gegharkunik Regional Administration on Fishermen Blocking Yerevan-Sevan Road
The Yerevan-Sevan-Yerevan interstate road in the Gagarin administrative area is completely closed in both directions. The traffic has been paralyzed by local villagers, who are protesting against the government's ban on fishing activities.
The protesters refuse to reopen the road and demand a meeting with Gegharkunik Governor Karen Sargsyan and Minister of Environment Hakob Simidian.
To learn more, Auroranews contacted the Gegharkunik Regional Administration.
"The reasons given are unfounded. The regulations for the fish spawning season have been significantly reinforced since the closure of the fishing season. It is closed but will be opened; the governor is aware, we all know and will take measures to reopen it quickly. The governor will probably meet with them. Explanatory work is already underway," officials from the regional administration stated.
