US Comments on Azerbaijan's Refusal for Washington Meeting of Foreign Ministers
The United States reaffirms its continued support for peace negotiations between Armenia and Azerbaijan. This was stated by U.S. State Department spokesperson Matthew Miller, commenting on Baku's announcement yesterday that it would not participate in the meeting of the foreign ministers of Azerbaijan and Armenia in Washington.
“We continue to support peaceful negotiations to address the existing issues between Armenia and Azerbaijan. We encourage both sides to engage in those negotiations, whether they take place here or elsewhere, and this will remain our policy,” the State Department spokesperson said.
It is noteworthy that the Azerbaijani foreign ministry has announced that Baku has refused to attend the Washington meeting of foreign ministers.
