Counterfeit Banknote Circulation Again: 2 Arrested

On November 10, a citizen approached a patrol officer in front of a store on one of the streets in Artashat, informing them that an attempt had been made to make purchases with a counterfeit 50,000 dram banknote.

According to the Armenian police, it was discovered that the young individuals attempting to sell the counterfeit banknote were in a Renault vehicle. Shortly after, the vehicle was stopped on the same street. The driver, a resident of Dalar village, and a passenger from Yerevan were arrested and taken to the Artashat police department.

During a personal search of the 32-year-old from Dalar, a counterfeit 50,000 dram banknote was found. He claimed that the banknote was given to him by foreigners while providing taxi services.

Both individuals have been presented to the Ararat regional investigative department, and the vehicle has been moved to a secured area. The circumstances of the case are being investigated.
