VIDEO: 'We Won't Close the Door If Reason Prevails' – Lavrov
If Belarus and Russia's European partners refuse to succumb to Washington and think about their national interests, we will not close the door to them. This was stated by Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov after a meeting with Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko.
He pointed out that Eurasia is today the most promising region in the world, given that it hosts and can potentially host strategic transport and logistics communications (North-South, East-West), and Western countries (occupying about a quarter of the western part of Eurasia) could benefit from it.
"We proceed from the assumption that when/if our Western partners and neighbors on that continent finally decide to return to sanity, stop playing ideological confrontation schemes imposed on them by the Americans and a few aggressive neighbors (including yours and ours), abandon subservience to Washington in everything, feel like independent states, and think about their national interests, we will not close the door to them," Lavrov said.
He also noted that such communication would be determined by mutual benefits, not solely by the desires of European partners.
It is noteworthy that Lavrov is participating in the international conference "Eurasian Security: Reality and Prospects in a Transforming World" in Minsk.
