«What should we fear more – when the opposition dislikes someone or when they like someone?» – Konyan
The head of the 'Civil Contract' faction in the National Assembly, Hayk Konyan, addressed the speeches made by the opposition in parliament yesterday. 'They turned the selection of judges into yet another episode of political ping-pong and targeted certain candidates for judges based on their chemistry,' said Konyan.
'If the opposition's speeches from yesterday were only listened to on the radio, you would think that Themis was delivering a speech. With a love for justice, they attempted to talk about justice and fairness, but they are the same people and representatives of those who have plundered the judicial system and the law for decades, while revealing the names of judges they like and dislike. This is an unacceptable step targeting judges. Moreover, they targeted not only those whom they criticize but also those whom they like, because it is still a question of what we should fear more – when the opposition dislikes someone or when they like someone,' he stated. According to the head of the CP faction, speeches that threatened judges, reminding them that they would march on the streets, etc., 'are direct threats to the judicial system and to judges.'
