What Expectations Does Armenia Have from the '3+3' Format Meeting
Armenia is not boycotting the Russian negotiation platform for now. This was stated by the Chairman of the National Assembly's Standing Committee on Security and Defence, Andranik Kocharyan, during a briefing with journalists.
"Our presence in these platforms is always there because we are a member of the CSTO at this time, and our interests in these platforms receive clarifications from us if necessary," Kocharyan noted.
When a journalist asked for clarification, stating, "So, we are not boycotting the Russian platforms?" Kocharyan replied, "Of course not... for now."
He referred to the '3+3' format meeting that started today in Tehran, mentioning what expectations Armenia has. According to him, the Armenian side expects to receive clear regional formulations.
“We must be able to maintain our rights in that platform, and we will. Our rights in the region are well known to all - the inviolability of the borders of the Republic of Armenia and not allowing unresolved issues to find solutions at our expense,” emphasized Kocharyan.
When addressing the question that the '3+3' format was created at the proposal of Ankara and that some experts express concerns that it is a Turkish initiative, Kocharyan disagreed. He stressed that there are five other countries besides Turkey.
"Problems are solved among peoples in the context of peace, but that doesn't mean that without a clear security environment, it is possible to achieve complete peace; today you will strike, tomorrow he will strike," Kocharyan noted.
We earlier reported that the Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan represents Armenia at the '3+3' format meeting that started today.
