Date of Pashinyan's Speech in the European Parliament Announced
The Prime Minister of Armenia, Nikol Pashinyan, will deliver a speech at the plenary session of the European Parliament in Strasbourg on October 18. This was announced by the President of the European Parliament, Roberta Metsola.
“I have invited the Prime Minister of Armenia to speak at the plenary session. He will do so in Strasbourg on October 18,” she stated at a press conference held during the EU's informal summit in Granada.
Metsola reminded that on October 5, the European Parliament adopted a resolution with very strict wording regarding the situation in Nagorno-Karabakh. “At this moment, we will focus on the humanitarian crisis, in other words—how to assist Armenia in receiving refugees—tens of thousands of people who have left their lives in a matter of hours because they were forced to flee. But I also welcome all efforts for de-escalation,” she noted.
The President of the European Parliament expressed hope that further meetings involving the President of the European Council, the President of France, and the Chancellor of Germany, who are responsible for communication with the authorities of Armenia and Azerbaijan, will lead to more concrete outcomes.
