Zakharova on Possible Closure of Russian Channels in Armenia
The potential closure of Russian channels in Armenia is a blow to democracy. This was stated by the spokeswoman for the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova, during a press briefing, commenting on the statements made by some members of the ruling party in Armenia regarding a possible ban on Russian television channels in the country.
The diplomat described these statements as yet another manifestation of the active work of the U.S. embassy in Yerevan and its results. According to her, 2,000 embassy employees are engaged in spreading misinformation and fake news.
Zakharova emphasized that against this backdrop, the calls from parliament members for the necessity of banning broadcasts of Russian channels have emerged. She recalled that earlier several Russian journalists had already found themselves on a 'stop list.'
