"The School is Expensive, Don't Close It, We Don't Have Another School to Go To": Residents of Getq Village Hold Protest
This morning, residents of Getq village in the Shirak region gathered to protest. According to Aravot.am, holding placards stating, "The school is expensive, don't close it, we don't have another school to go to," parents and students blocked the Getq-Gharibjanian road demanding a review of the decision to optimize schools.
In an interview with the media, parents mentioned that there is a plan to merge schools with up to 100 students with schools in neighboring communities. However, they do not agree with this decision, stating that closing the village school would mean destroying the village.
According to the report, Getq students are being offered to attend school in the neighboring village of Yerazgavorz, which parents claim is two villages away. It was noted that a large number of police forces have gathered at the scene.
