Investigation into Surik Khachatryan and Others to Resume
The investigation into the case of former Syunik Governor Surik Khachatryan and others (including his wife, two sons, and two connected individuals) will resume. This information has been published on the official website of the Armenian judicial authority.
It is noted that as part of the illegal asset confiscation process, the Khachatryan family must provide law enforcement with substantiated explanations to prove the legality of their property.
"The Anti-Corruption Court has rejected the motion to apply the statute of limitations in the case of Surik Khachatryan and others, and has decided to resume the investigation," the statement said.
The court session is scheduled for October 6 at 15:00.
Recall that in the criminal proceedings being investigated by the Armenian Anti-Corruption Committee, Surik Khachatryan was involved as a defendant on November 19, 2019, under Part 1 of Article 309 of the Armenian Criminal Code (abuse of official powers), Part 1 of Article 38-314 (complicity in official forgery, 2 episodes), and Part 3 of Section 1 of Article 38-179 (complicity in embezzlement or misappropriation in particularly large amounts). As a preventive measure, he has been remanded in custody, and a search has been announced for him.
