Commentary from Kyiv on Western Media Reports of Ukrainian Armed Forces Losses
The losses of the Ukrainian army reported by Western media are exaggerated and unreliable, said Oleksii Danilov, Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine, in an interview with the German publication Welt.
According to him, the number of Ukrainian armed forces is not large enough to talk about '70,000 soldiers' losses. 'Those who present such figures obviously do not have accurate information about the situation in our country. I do not understand why respected journalists disseminate such unreliable information about our losses,' Danilov stated.
Earlier, authors from The New York Times, citing American officials, reported that Washington estimates the damage to the Ukrainian army at 70,000 fighters, with the number of injured ranging from 100,000 to 120,000.
