Any Meeting in Azerbaijani Territory Poses Significant Risks Says Artsakh Foreign Ministry
The Artsakh side has consistently advocated for a peaceful resolution to the Azerbaijani-Karabakh conflict through negotiations, according to the Artsakh Foreign Ministry.
“At the same time, such negotiations should take place within an agreed international format between the parties, which will ensure that the discussions are conducted in accordance with the norms and requirements of international law. The Artsakh side has repeatedly proposed initiatives for meetings through mediators, but the Azerbaijani side has rejected these,” the statement continues.
“It should be noted that any meeting in Azerbaijani territory, especially without the presence of international mediators, carries quite significant risks - particularly in light of the abduction of Vagif Khachatryan under the mandate of the ICRC, even with the presence of Russian peacekeepers.” The spokesperson for the President of Artsakh also addressed the topic regarding the Agdam road today,” the statement concludes.
