Security Forces Propose to Putin to Dismiss Shoigu and the Chief of Staff, Bloomberg
Russian security forces are proposing to President Vladimir Putin to dismiss Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu and Chief of Staff Valery Gerasimov, introduce martial law, and initiate a general mobilization. This was reported by Bloomberg.
According to sources from the agency, the FSB is advising Putin to take more aggressive actions on the Ukrainian front by relieving Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu from his duties. Several representatives of the security services are also advocating for the dismissal of Chief of Staff Valery Gerasimov and supporting the demands put forth by the leader of the 'Wagner Group', Yevgeny Prigozhin.
It is noted that the Russian army needs fresh forces to protect the occupied territories from Ukrainian offensives. The mobilized forces from last autumn are already insufficient.
Additionally, the agency points out that, considering that mobilization has disrupted public support for the war and harmed Putin's approval ratings, the Kremlin is postponing the difficult decision.
