Colonel Evgeny Vashunin, Commander of the 'Leningrad Battalion', Dies in Ukraine
Colonel Evgeny Vashunin, the commander of the 'Leningrad Battalion', composed of mobilized residents from St. Petersburg and northwestern Russia, has died in Ukraine after being wounded during military operations. Russian media outlets report this tragic news.
“A talented commander and a worthy citizen, the commander of the Leningrad Battalion has passed away. Colonel Evgeny Alexandrovich Vashunin dedicated himself to the service of our homeland,” the statement said.
It is noted that on July 14, Vashunin decided to join a 'support group' to assist the 'Storm' detachment, which was in operational encirclement by Ukrainian armed forces. Ukrainian soldiers noticed their movement, after which Russian forces clashed with them. As a result, the colonel was seriously wounded and later succumbed to his injuries.
