"They Aren't Doing Anything, No One is Helping Each Other": Father of Fallen Soldier on Azat Military Unit Fire Case

"They aren't doing anything, no one is helping each other. Samples still need to be brought from Vardenis for the expert centers; it's been over 15 days, and whoever you talk to just shifts the blame to someone else." This statement was made by Gabriel Kirakosyan, the father of fallen serviceman Hayk Kirakosyan, during a conversation with journalists regarding developments in the criminal case about the fire at the military unit located in the village of Azat in January.

The relatives of the servicemen who died in the barracks fire gathered near the Armenian Investigative Committee to express their dissatisfaction with the Committee's actions. "When you talk to the investigator handling the case, they say, 'Our leadership needs to negotiate with the management of the expert center to decide whether the samples will be brought here by vehicle or whether the specialist will go and take the samples from there,'" he explained.

"And they aren't doing anything. When you call, they say, 'Tomorrow I'll tell you what I can say, the next day I'll do this, the day after that I'll do this, and the next day this...' You call back 2-3 days later, and it's the same situation," Kirakosyan noted.
