Aliyev: "The Armenian Side Must Secure Its Words on Paper"
The President of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev, has stated that a peace agreement can be signed with Armenia based on the norms and principles of international law.
"We want a peace agreement, but I reiterate, not everything depends on us; the other side must also be ready for this and must transfer the principles expressed in words onto paper," Aliyev stated.
Emphasizing the positive progress of Armenia's position, he also mentioned, "If last October Armenia recognized Azerbaijan's territorial integrity, sovereignty, and borders, then this May it went even further by officially recognizing the parameters of Azerbaijan's territory, including Artsakh and the exclave villages. This should be viewed as a positive fact. Now is the time for these same words to be secured on paper, signatures to be affixed, and relations to be established. In any case, we will continue our efforts in this direction."
Earlier, it was reported that on July 11 at 17:35, Azerbaijani units opened fire from various calibers of small arms towards Armenian positions located in the Tegh and Lake Sevan areas.
