Kremlin Warns Europe About Consequences of Ukraine Joining NATO
Ukraine's accession to NATO will have very negative consequences for the European security architecture, stated Dmitry Peskov, spokesperson for the President of Russia.
“You know the Russian Federation's completely understandable and consistent position that Ukraine's membership in NATO will have very, very negative consequences for Europe’s already crumbling security architecture and pose an absolute danger, a threat to our country,” said Peskov.
Last week, the British newspaper The Telegraph, citing NATO sources, reported that at the alliance's summit in Vilnius on July 11-12, Germany intends to postpone Ukraine's entry into NATO due to concerns that this step might lead to war.
Additionally, the Financial Times wrote that the United States and Germany are under pressure from NATO allies due to insufficient support for Ukraine's entry into the alliance. On Monday, sources from the German publication Bild confirmed the information regarding Germany and the U.S. blocking Ukraine's official entry into the alliance.
