Blinken and Chinese Foreign Minister Meet for the First Time After Balloon Incident
U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken and China's Foreign Minister have met in Beijing. The U.S. Secretary is on a two-day visit to China, which was originally scheduled for February.
However, the visit was postponed due to the incident involving the downing of a Chinese balloon in U.S. airspace. It is recalled that on February 5, under the orders of President Joe Biden, the U.S. Air Force shot down and destroyed the Chinese balloon over the Atlantic Ocean near South Carolina. According to Washington, it had entered U.S. territory for espionage purposes.
