Hungary Denies Flight Permission for South African President's Delegation to St. Petersburg

The South African Airways flight, transporting more than 100 members of the South African President's security service and journalists, was blocked for over a day at Warsaw's international airport before failing to take off for St. Petersburg and returning to its home country. This was reported by local radio station I witness.

The aircraft did not receive permission to fly through Hungarian airspace, the source stated.

As a result, some members of the South African President’s security team and journalists were unable to travel to St. Petersburg as part of the peacekeeping mission from African countries in Russia and Ukraine.

Leaders from six African nations have arrived in St. Petersburg to meet with Russian President Vladimir Putin. This was announced by Anton Kobyakov, an adviser to the Russian President and the responsible secretary of the organizing committee for the conference, during the final press briefing of the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum.
