Lachin Corridor Must Be Monitored Exclusively by Russian Peacekeeping Forces, Says MP
The Lachin Corridor must be monitored exclusively by Russian peacekeeping forces. This was stated today by Arthur Hovhannisyan, a member of the National Assembly from the "Civil Contract" faction, during a press briefing.
“We have noted more than once that there is an issue in the Lachin Corridor, and it falls within the area of responsibility of the Russian peacekeepers. What has occurred is a problem that we are discussing and maintaining direct contact with our partners about,” Hovhannisyan said.
He commented on a journalist's question regarding the attempt to raise the Azerbaijani flag near the Hakari Bridge on June 15. Referring to whether this issue has been discussed with Russian counterparts, Hovhannisyan emphasized that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Armenia is in constant communication with them.
“After the attempt to prevent escalation, there has been no new attempt,” Hovhannisyan stated, reflecting on the current situation in the Lachin Corridor. He underscored that despite Azerbaijani provocations, the government will continue to pursue its adopted policy to mitigate all escalation risks.
