What Issues Will Armenia Face If Tigranashen Is Handed Over to Azerbaijan?
“What issues will Armenia face if Tigranashen, as an enclave, is handed over to Azerbaijan? The ‘Iravunk’ newspaper writes that we tried to get an answer to this question from the well-known cartographer Ruben Galichyan, who stated:
— We must be very cautious with enclaves. If we give the Tigranashen enclave to Azerbaijan, this road will cease to operate. If it ceases to function, then we will have to go through rural roads in Ararat, taking a longer route. I traveled that road several times last summer; it is a very beautiful road, yet narrow, rural. And if two passenger cars meet head-on, they must be careful to pass each other without collision.
This road will need years to be widened and turned into an international standard road. It will take at least months - six months to a year. Our cargo connection with Persia will be disrupted. We will suffer enormous economic losses.”
Details are available in today’s issue of the newspaper.
