Armenia Hears for the First Time That Russia Supports Baku's Position on the 'Zangezur Corridor' - Secretary of the RPA
The Armenian side is hearing for the first time that Russia supports the idea of the 'Zangezur Corridor' as voiced by Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev. This was stated by Arthur Hovhannisyan, the secretary of the parliamentary group of the ruling Civil Contract party, during a briefing at the National Assembly on May 26.
According to him, Aliyev personally admitted that he did not have extraterritorial claims in mind.
“Nevertheless, it is natural that in the further stages of the negotiation process we will begin to align our viewpoints on terminological issues,” Hovhannisyan emphasized.
The ruling party representative stated that the Armenian authorities have repeatedly expressed that the corridor issue is a red line for them.
“This was once again confirmed during yesterday's meeting,” the MP noted.
