Increase in Drug Trafficking in Armenia Linked to Growth in Tourism, Says Minasian
The illegal drug trade has increased not only in Armenia but across the globe. This was stated by the Minister of Justice of the Republic of Armenia, Grigor Minasian, during a briefing with journalists following a government meeting.
The minister noted that while one of the main global reasons for the increase in illegal drug trafficking is the rise in plantations, the main reasons in Armenia are different. "With the sharp increase in economic growth and tourism, risks also increase, which is normal, but we also have the newly established Ministry of Internal Affairs, a new, better functioning, and developing patrol service, and soon you will see how effectively it starts to operate," Minasian stated.
