The Presidents of the Czech Republic and Slovakia Arrive in Kyiv
Petr Pavel and Zuzana Čaputová have arrived in Ukraine by train on an unannounced visit. The purpose of the trip remains unknown.
The two heads of state will hold talks with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and meet with his cabinet members. According to the blesk.cz news platform, this joint visit began to be planned in January of this year, immediately after Petr Pavel was elected as the leader of the Czech Republic. For security reasons, the dates of the trip were not disclosed in advance.
“We both understand the value of freedom and justice. It is hard to see for ourselves that Ukrainians are paying the highest price for it: with the blood and lives of their citizens. In the fight against the aggressor, they are defending what we have in common. That’s why we will stand behind them,” Petr Pavel wrote on Twitter.
