Gagik Tsarukyan Charged with Electoral Bribery

The criminal case related to Gagik Tsarukyan, the president of the Prosperous Armenia Party, which accuses him of electoral bribery, has been sent to court. This was reported by the Office of the Prosecutor General of Armenia.

The investigation conducted by the National Security Service established that Gagik Tsarukyan and the director of the Multi Group concern, Sedrak Arustamyan, gave bribes to voters in the 2017 parliamentary elections to vote for their coalition and the coalition candidate.

Both Gagik Tsarukyan and Sedrak Arustamyan have been charged under the article concerning bribery of voters. The indictment approved by the supervising prosecutor on April 21, 2023, has been submitted to the Anti-Corruption Court along with the case materials.

The criminal case was initiated back in June 2020. At that time, Gagik Tsarukyan was a member of the National Assembly. Prosecutor General Artur Davtyan had submitted a request to the National Assembly to lift Tsarukyan’s immunity and initiate criminal prosecution against him, which was granted.

In September 2020, Gagik Tsarukyan was detained. On October 22 of the same year, the court decided to release him on a bail of 100 million drams.
