Canada Calls on Azerbaijan to Reopen the Lachin Corridor: Foreign Minister
Canada is concerned about Azerbaijan's placement of a checkpoint in the Lachin Corridor. This statement was made by the country's Foreign Minister Mélanie Joly.
“Canada is deeply concerned about Azerbaijan’s establishment of a checkpoint in the Lachin Corridor. This road is the only land connection between Nagorno-Karabakh and the surrounding region. This action clearly disrupts the peace process and stability in the entire region,” stated Joly.
“We urge the authorities in Azerbaijan to reopen the Lachin Corridor. It must remain open and unimpeded to allow for the free movement of people and goods,” the statement added.
Canada has called on both parties to resume negotiations and to refrain from further escalation or hostile actions along the border.
