Baku Calls for Immediate Release of Azerbaijani Soldiers Detained in Armenia
Baku has called for the immediate release of Azerbaijani soldiers detained in Armenia who illegally crossed the border into the Republic of Armenia. This was announced by Azerbaijan's Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov during a conversation with U.S. Secretary of State's senior advisor for Caucasus negotiations, Lewis Bono.
It is reported that one of the Azerbaijani soldiers who crossed the border illegally is suspected of murdering a guard at the Zangezur Copper-Molybdenum Combine. According to media reports, the guard's phone was found in the possession of the Azerbaijani soldier.
Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan also stated that the first detained Azerbaijani had expressed no desire to return to Azerbaijan.
Earlier, it was reported that two Azerbaijani soldiers who found themselves on Armenian territory have been charged and are currently in custody.
