"When Sweden Meets This Demand, It Will Become a NATO Member" - Kalın
Sweden can only join NATO upon fulfilling Turkey's primary demand. This was reported by TASS, citing a statement from Turkey's presidential spokesman İbrahim Kalın.
"We maintain objective criteria regarding Sweden's accession to NATO. Our main demand is the fight against terrorism. When Sweden meets that, it will become a NATO member," Kalın said.
According to him, Turkey's allies in NATO must stand in solidarity with it in combating terrorism.
"NATO is neither a tourism agency nor a cultural union. The foremost task of the alliance is to ensure the security of its member states," the official added.
