Abrahamyan: They Must Answer Why the Troops Were Not Put on Combat Alert
The Secretary of the "Honorary Mission" faction in the Armenian National Assembly, Tigran Abrahamyan, wrote on his Facebook page:
"In recent days, the authorities have created a discussion space regarding the 44-day war that is not only secondary in nature but is actually a significant trap, ranging from draft dodgers to the study of local episodes on the battlefield.
One of the main issues is to understand how it was possible that, given reliable information from technical reconnaissance and other sources, when it was obvious that a war was on the horizon, the armed forces were not transitioned from peacetime to wartime. As far as I can tell, the main direction of the blow at the Artsakh Defense Army was merely an increase in vigilance, while the signals from the Armenian Army corps were contradictory.
Both Nikol Pashinyan and former Chief of Staff Onik Gasparyan must answer why the troops were not brought to the appropriate combat readiness. Former commander of the Defense Army Jalal Harutyunyan must provide a clear answer to the question of whether he presented a precise situation to the Chief of Staff and why the Defense Army did not receive an order to transition to the appropriate status. On what grounds did the Chief of Staff reject the decision to move the troops from peacetime to wartime?
These questions must be answered by law enforcement agencies, while the rest should form part of general legal processes. Of course, I continue to assert that under this government, investigative commissions and the law enforcement system have the function of "clearing the political authority from water", and what I say applies to the subsequent authorities as well."
